Other than the Nakamichi audio system value package no longer being available, there are no changes for the RX 300 this year.

• Well-appointed interior, perfect road manners, excellent crash-test results, optional four-wheel drive.

• Allergic to major off-highway work, cumbersome LCD screen in center of dash, feels more like a minivan than an SUV.

  This is my second RX300 and it just gets better. I leased a 1999 for 39 months and loved it, hated to give it up. So I leased a 2002 and love it even more. It feels more refined and just gets better and better. TRY ONE!!!!!

  WE PURCHASED OUR RX300 IN MARCH 02 IT HAS THE BEST PAINT , AND A VERY QUIET RIDE. SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE, AND THE INSIDE IS GREAT. YOU CAN SEE THE QUALITY INSIDE, BEFORE THE BIG L. IN FRONT AND ON THE REAR GO ON. IM 58 I LOVE TO DRIVE AND POLISH IT. AT J.M. LEXUS THEY GO WAY OVERBOARD TO GIVE YOU YHE BEST SERVICE YOU EVER HAD.   My last Toyota purchase - 2002 Lexus RX 300

  This car did not live up to my expectations. After owning many Toyota products, a Corrolla was my first car, I will no longer be purchasing their product. The hype that this car would run for 200 to 300 thousand miles is just hype. My transmission gave out on a major highway at 10:00 PM in a construction zone 30 miles from ANY gas station or other help. Two years ago the air conditioning unit needed replacement and now there are electrical problems. I have never had so many problems with a car.

  Bought as fifth owner with 136K miles. Perhaps a risky move but the engine crapped out on the first 300 trip. After looking at the horror stories Id never consider a RX300 again unless the previous owner maintenance could be verified beyond a shadow of a doubt, too risky.

  Died at 82,000 - 2002 Lexus RX 300

  Bought the RX 300 certified pre-owned with 42,000 miles. Loved the vehicle until it died at 82,000 miles. Temp gauge showed cold, but engine overheated and locked up on I-80 in Gary, IN. It was 2 weeks past the warranty. After a $200 tow charge, we were told the engine needed replaced for $10,500. Lexus gave us the engine, but it still cost $3,000 in labor. Lexus offered no explanation as to cause, and declined further help. The dealership was wonderful, however. We have also had chronic problems with dash lights. We thought Lexus was bulletproof. We wont buy another one.

  The passanger seat needs a 6 way adjustment. The front part of the seat is too low which allows the passanger to keep sliding off the seat which is not comfortable. The turning circle is also too large. The smell of the leather is not too pleasing at times.
